Employee Spotlight: Patrick Hoppe

"Nothing worth doing is easy."

September 20, 2022

Time to read: 3 mintues.

Today we have a very special guest on the MTS blog: Patrick Hoppe!

Hailing from a small town in Southern Wisconsin, Patrick would find himself quickly moving to Colorado Springs where he would spend his childhood. After graduating from Thomas Maclaren Highschool in Colorado Springs, Patrick would travel abroad to expand his education, his destination? Trinity University. Here he would uncover the secrets of engineering science with a focus in electrical engineering.

Since graduating with his bachelors, Patrick has remained in San Antonio. While diving into the overwhelming task of searching for a job, Patrick ran into Tim Morris at the end of the summer of 2021 where they would discuss his job search. What initially began as Tim trying to get Patrick connected with engineering opportunities, ended up with an offer to work at MTS doing entry-level IT work while continuing to search for engineering opportunities. A year later, Patrick has remained at MTS working on various projects and helping break into managed server niches which were not previously provided.

Patrick is always looking for ways to improve his career and education, in the short term, by pursuing a CompTIA Network+ certification and long term by deepening his knowledge of the many facets of IT infrastructure as a whole.

At MTS, Patrick values what also makes working here challenging: the small, close-knit team. Even with the close bonds and fantastic support between team members, a small group means a lot of responsibility for each person on the team. A lot of knowledge for some of the brand new systems Patrick worked with had to be self taught through extensive research and practice. However, this skill has become invaluable for Patrick as it not only keeps him engaged and on his toes, but constantly grows his capabilities and understanding of modern systems. Patrick has become quite the tinkerer, working with everything from cellular hardware to networking infrastructure.

Despite his commitment to the highest quality of work, Patrick has a lot more going on behind the scenes. Our local engineering genius is also quite the musician! In fact, Patrick not only plays, but constructed his very own stand up bass under the guidance of a close friend.

Last but most certainly not least, Mr. Hoppe has decided to put down some roots in San Antonio and add a Mrs. Hoppe to his life! At the beginning of this upcoming October Patrick is getting married!

We are so fortunate to have someone so talented and devoted to bettering himself and look forward to the adventures and challenges we will take on together in the future.
